The absolute wealthiest players in the market typically gravitate out of the office during the hot summer months and head off to their beach or lake homes.
That’s typically why we witness things slow down a bit in the market between July and August. It seems like this ramps up every year from Labor Day on.
I live on the eastern seaboard about 40 minutes outside of downtown Manhattan.
And I know several folks who work on Wall Street that will confirm this summertime phenomenon.
In fact, one of my friends that works for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is currently in Nantucket for several weeks at his family’s home.
While that’s all nice and well for those with their beachfront homes, what does that leave for us… the retail traders?
Well, a few things, actually…
Take a Breather
First, traders like us get an opportunity to regroup, take a breather and enjoy summer for ourselves!
Go do what you truly enjoy for once! The beauty of the stock market is that it’ll always be there…
During the summer, I do my best to gravitate towards the mountains.
I like the cooler, relaxing environment. I try to play a little golf, ride the motorcycle and shoot some archery on the cooler days.
We also enjoy being by the water, but we’re lake people in the summer. And believe it or not, we are ocean people in the off season.
You see, we run multiple businesses and work very hard. It’s just in our blood.
My wife and I keep ourselves in a productive state 99% of the time. So, when we have a break, we like peace and quiet.
We love going to the shore in the fall. Everything that’s seasonal is still open, all the kids are back to school and there are no lines anywhere!
The ocean water remains warm here in the metro area well into September and early October, so the offshore fishing remains in full swing as well.
I’m sure you work hard like we do, which is why I encourage you to treat yourself from time to time.
This crazy life we live passes us by very quickly, so make sure you enjoy some of it!
The Insider Effect
Then, when you’re well rested and ready to get back to the markets, consider checking out my colleague and expert trader Ross Givens.
Ross’s premium Insider Effect research service focuses on corporate insider buying.
These insiders are corporate CEOs, CFOs, executives and board members either purchasing or selling shares in their own companies.
These folks have a footing of knowledge that Main Street investors simply do not.
He’ll cover his strategy for trading alongside corporate insiders and generating potentially massive gains as a result.
