Many ask me what my connection between “main street” and Wall Street is…
And as a main street businessman, it’s really fairly simple… The connection is commodities!
That’s right… Commodities make the world go round.
There isn’t much that exists without the presence of commodities.
While they stretch across the board, most folks commonly think of energy when they think of commodities.
But it’s a heck of a lot more than just energy…
Much More Than Energy
It’s agriculture, livestock, lumber, metals… I mean the list literally goes on and on and on.
And for me as a young man, it was a matter of grasping that these things, consumable and non-consumable, are really what makes the world go round.
The price of livestock and agricultural products are the things we consume.
The price of energy is obviously what literally drives the world to operate.
Precious metals, even copper, aluminum and steel, are all publicly traded commodities.
Real estate is a commodity that adjusts accordingly as well. Yep… Even the home you reside in is a commodity.
So, when I started putting the pieces of the puzzle together, I realized that I didn’t want to be the guy at the end of the transaction trying to make a nickel.
Instead, I wanted to be the guy in the know and able to leverage these assets as their value fluctuates on the market.
As I often say, an asset is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. That’s why goods and services either excel or die a slow painful death.
Someone wants what you have to offer, and they’re willing to pay the price set forth.
On the other hand, if you offer a good or service that the market (end buyer) decides is not worth what you’re asking, they won’t pay your price.
My Gateway to the Market
I grew up in the automobile repair and gasoline retail industry. I remember those days of fighting to make yourself a nickel profit on a gallon of gasoline.
They were not the best days of my life, that’s for sure. But those days really drove home the connection for me between main street and Wall Street.
That was my gateway to the market. I wanted to trade the oil long before it was refined into gasoline and sold to the consumer.
So, I did just that. And not only did I do that, but I now share that experience with the members of my research program, The Speciale Report, which focuses exclusively on the crude oil markets.
We trade it in the futures, ETF and options markets, all of which give members the opportunity to trade at their comfort level.
That’s the beauty of The Speciale Report’s trade ideas… We accommodate all styles of traders.
There’s really something for everyone!
